first common type of electric cookers is hot plates. Hot plates is a small electric stove used for many different things like food preparation, and generally something that is small. Cooking with a pressure cooker is much faster than other methods of cooking unless you like microwavable foods which microwaves out beat anything. Also the temperature is usually above normal when cooking with a pressure cooker which means it kills all bacteria and viruses that might be in the food. Also great for sterilizing other items such as glass baby bottles.

another type is a solar cooker. These are pretty cool if your looking for something solar. Some countries use these outside. Just point the cooker to the sun and the food starts cooking. It might be suitable for the hiking camper.
